Wake 'N Shake 2013 By The Numbers
Wake 'N Shake was a great success, a special motivation, and a wonderful memory for many students. Over 1300 students participated throughout the day,and we had nearly 400 students on their feet for 12 hours. The dancing, game playing, group singing, team competitions, cancer survivor testimonies, pep talks from Coach Grobe and Provost Kersh and much more kept us going strong until 12 midnight. The closing ceremony was a fun and powerful experience for all who stayed until the end. And one of the many miracles from Wake 'N Shake was that over $125,700 was raised for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund to find a cure for this terrible disease. Here are some numbers that we are particularily proud of:
-$125,722.57 and counting raised
-382 people watched our Google+ Hangout of the dance marathon LIVE
-308 people texted PIC to 80077 which generated $3,080 in donations.
-1300 participants
-358 12-hour participants
Thank you- dancers, donors, voluneers, students, faculty, staff, community members, businesses, parents, advisors, ect for your efforts. We are proud to say that we are one step closer to tackling cancer after Wake 'N Shake 2013

Video Debut & Benefit Concert to be Held in Honor of Coach Heather Holmes
As we look ahead towards the coming weeks, we take a moment to reflect on those who have inspired us to join the fight. Wake 'N Shake 2013 remembers the individuals we currently support, those we will support in the future and those we will forever honor in the fight against cancer.
This Wednesday, February 20th, Wake 'N Shake will be hosting a Benefit Concert Fundraiser in honor of former head volleyball coach Heather Kahl Holmes. Coach Holmes was diagnosed with breast cancer in May. She never missed a practice or game during the fall season, although she was going through chemotherapy all the while. Coach Holmes will be joining us for this special event which will be held in the Magnolia Room at Wake Forest University from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Chi Rho, Demon Divas, Innuendo, Minor Variation & Plead the Fifth, five Wake Forest a capella groups, will be performing at the event.
As a fundraiser dedicated to supporting those close to the Wake Forest community, Wake 'N Shake 2013 will be making a special donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in honor of Coach Holmes.
Keep on dancing & keep on fighting - it's time to tackle cancer!
We hope you will partner with us in the coming weeks and encourage those around you to partner with us. Registration opens February 20, 2013!
