This year I will be fundraising in honor of one of the greatest role models I have ever had. Ginny Rogers was essentially a part of my family since I was born, and was diagnosed with cancer in the summer of 2016. She fought bravely and cheerfully but sadly passed away in November of 2017. Ginny was a constant light in my life counseling me through good times and bad and lived her life in constant service of others. Even after her diagnosis, Ginny refused to be weighed down by her daunting diagnosis even though the doctors told her it could only end one way. She said to us, "No long faces and tears please. I was born with a smile on my face, lived a long and joyful life and I want to go out the same way." And she did just that. Although this year sadly I will not be able to be present on the day of Wake N Shake for the first time in my college career, I still wholesomely believe in this event and in fighting against cancer for all who have suffered and continue to suffer from this terrible disease.
